Census data show that Americans of Asian heritage earn more than other groups, including whites. Asian-Americans also have higher educational attainment than any other group. Just look at Asian-Americans. Those Koreans and Chinese make it in America because they work hard. All people can succeed here if they just stop whining and start working. Does the success of Asian-Americans suggest that the age of discrimination is behind us? These immigrants are disproportionately doctors, research scientists and other highly educated professionals.

The goal of this cross-sectional study was to describe acculturation and characteristics of Korean American families. Self-reports were gathered from families mothers, 98 fathers, adolescents in the Midwest. Mothers, fathers, and adolescents maintained Korean cultural and linguistic characteristics while adopting some American cultural and linguistic features. The adoption of American culture and English was more evident among adolescents than their parents.
This study used the qualitative descriptive method. Twenty KAAs aged 11 to 14 years and their 21 parents participated in in-depth, face-to-face interviews. Qualitative content analysis revealed that KAAs and their parents reported similar views regarding acculturative stress experienced by KAAs: peer relationships, being treated differently or unfairly, pressure to excel academically and be successful, and strained parentchild relationships. Culturally and developmentally relevant interventions focusing on strengthening peer relationships and parent-child relationships are needed for this population.
