Fauzia Ilyas is a campaigner of feminism and atheist rights and an open critic of her former religion, Islam, for many of its conservative and misogynist outlooks. Ilyas said that Rabi Pirzada did nothing wrong as it is her life and her choice. Fauzia Ilyas posted nude photos of herself in solidarity with Pirzada and said that women should not feel ashamed of their bodies. Rabi Pirzada done nothing wrong. Its her life. Shame on those whose cursing her. The British-Iranian political activist and human rights campaigner, Maryam Namazie, later shared her tweet from her official social media handle and said that there is nothing obscene about women's bodies. Instead, she said the misogynist Islamic view that propagates the culture of shaming women, controlling and policing their bodies and sexuality, is what is obscene. What is obscene is the misogynist Islamic view of women's bodies and the shaming culture that aims to control and police women's bodies and sexuality. There is nothing obscene about women's bodies.

Several Pakistani police officers have been suspended after they were accused of parading a couple naked in public. According to witnesses, police in the Sindh town of Gambat forced the man and woman to walk to the police station naked as punishment for trying to have sex outside marriage. Mobile phone footage shows a naked man being beaten by police and a woman begging them to let her cover herself. The BBC's Shahzeb Jillani says incidents of public dishonouring are not uncommon in Pakistan, but this incident is particularly shocking because it was carried out by police and filmed on mobile phones. Last year, several men were arrested for stripping a middle aged woman naked and parading her round the village as punishment for her son allegedly having an affair with a woman in their family. Shahnaz Bibi told the BBC at the time that her life had been ruined by the ordeal, and she could never go home. The footage of this latest incident shows the man, Mumtaz Mirbahar, being pushed around and abused by police officers on his property. He is then forced to walk naked to the police station, alongside his alleged partner, as a large crowd looks on.

School frightens him now. Earlier this year, a cleric at the religious school he faithfully attended in the southern Punjab town of Pakpattan took him into a washroom and tried to rape him. She said she has known the cleric, Moeed Shah, since she was a little girl and describes him as an habitual abuser who used to ask little girls to pull up their shirts. The AP also documented cases of abuse through interviews with law enforcement officials, abuse victims and their parents. The alleged victims who spoke for this story did so with the understanding only their first names would be used. There are more than 22, registered madrassas in Pakistan, teaching more than 2 million children. But there are many more religious schools that are unregistered. They are typically started by a local cleric in a poor neighborhood, attracting students with a promise of a meal and free lodging. There is no central body of clerics that governs madrassas. Nor is there a central authority that can investigate or respond to allegations of abuse by clerics, unlike the Catholic Church, which has a clear hierarchy topped by the Vatican.
