Could you guys please explain to me the meaning of preposition "by".
I agree with Clive, that this means at the end of the workday. Don't stress yourself out doing it, spread the time out and work in your own pace. Ask a Question. Does Due by Monday mean due at the beginning of the workday? Or at the end of the workday? What's the difference with that phrase compared to: Up to Monday? Please advise.
There on Monday means after Sunday and before Tuesday, there by Monday means any time up to and including Sunday. This is perfectly fine! Maybe you do not know exactly when you will arrive, but your mother's retirement party if Monday. Most of your family will be showing up on the Friday to prepare, but you are busy at work. You would assure them: "Don't worry, I'll be there by Monday"; maybe you show up Friday night, Saturday, or Sunday right before the party. All of those count as "by Monday".
